Always log out of Helsenorge when you are finished. No-one will be able to find any traces of your data after you have logged out. This can help prevent unauthorised parties from misusing your personal data.
You can also ensure that cookies are deleted when you close the browser window by changing the browser settings.
In order to use the Helsenorge services that require log-in, you first need to consent to Helsenorge being able to:
obtain health data relating to you from external registers and other sources
compile and process such data and create lists based on the data, which can be displayed to you in the services
store data for as long as necessary for you to use the services
allow external parties to contact you
Stored data relating to you will be stored only for as long as necessary for you to use the services.
Choose between three levels of consent
With this option, you will be able to view data registered about you in the health and social care sector and request correction and erasure of some data.
This option gives you the same access as Basic, as well as access to view medical records from hospitals that have been made digitally available by healthcare professionals.

Full access gives you access to all Helsenorge services. This means everything included in Basic and Basic+, as well as viewing information about for example appointments and test results and receiving letters, forms and similar for completion.
As an adult, you cannot use MinID to log in to Helsenorge. This is because MinID is an electronic ID that does not have a high enough level of security. To access services containing health data, you need an electronic ID at the highest level of security.
If you have been given a new national ID number, you will no longer be able to log in using your old national ID number or D number.
When someone dies, notification of the death will be sent from the Norwegian National Population Register to Norsk helsenett. The deceased’s consent relating to Helsenorge will then be withdrawn and all authorisations granted and received will be deleted. 30 days later, all data relating to the deceased will automatically be deleted from Helsenorge.
Unless there are special reasons not to do so, next-of-kin will ordinarily have the right of access to a deceased person’s health data, for example the patient’s medical records. Such health data relating to deceased persons cannot be accessed via Helsenorge. Please contact the relevant treatment providers directly if you are next-of-kin and require access to health data relating to a deceased person.
Even if you are inactive on Helsenorge, your profile and data stored about you will not be deleted.
Helsenorge has strict security requirements in place to safeguard your data.
Several services at Helsenorge securely retrieve data from registers run by health authorities and display the data to you when you are logged in. Such services do not store any of the data and the data will disappear from Helsenorge when you log out.
Other services require data to be stored at Helsenorge, for example if you send a message to your GP or the hospital and when you receive a response.
