Three different types of tests are being used in Norway: PCR-based test, an antigen-based rapid-test, or a self-test.
There may be certain situations, for example when travelling, where special requirements for which tests to use apply.
A self-test is an antigen-based rapid test that you can take yourself. This test is in most situations comparable to the other test methods.
Antigen-based rapid test
An antigen-based rapid test and a self-test are the same but the antigen-based rapid test is taken by health personnel.
The result of an antigen-based rapid test taken by health personnel is registered in the same way as for the standard PCR-based test, and you will find the test results at Helsenorge.no
A confirmatory PCR-test or confirmatory antigen-based rapid test taken by health personnel is no longer recommended for everyone who test positive on a self-test.
