Granting power of attorney to use Helsenorge to others
If you want your next of kin to be able to use Helsenorge on your behalf, you can authorise them by granting power of attorney. They will then be able to book appointments and request repeat prescriptions for you, and they will also be able to view data relating to your health.
How to grant power of attorney at Helsenorge
You need to be logged in to Helsenorge in order to grant power of attorney.
Go to Profile and Settings and click Powers of Attorney
Enter the last name and national identity number of the person you want to grant power of attorney to
Select how long the power of attorney will be valid for
Select the service area the power of attorney will be valid for
Click Create Power of Attorney
The person you are authorising will receive a notification from Helsenorge that the power of attorney has been created.
Power of attorney
You may give power of attorney to other people to use services at Helsenorge on your behalf, and you may obtain a corresponding power of attorney from others.
Before you can grant power of attorney, you need to consent to Helsenorge collecting, compiling and processing your health data. You need to give such consent in order to use Helsenorge at all. If you have not already given your consent, you can do so under Privacy Settings. Here you will also be able to change your consent.
What you can grant power of attorney for
When you create a power of attorney, you can choose what the power of attorney will be valid for based on your needs and those of the person who will be using Helsenorge on your behalf. You can, for example, select that the power of attorney will be valid only for access to your health data or access to your medical records. You can also select that the person who you grant power of attorney to will be able to carry out activities such as booking appointments with your doctor.
Select service area
The different services on Helsenorge are split into three groups, referred to as service areas. You can select that a power of attorney will be valid for one, two or all three service areas.
If new services are added to Helsenorge, the power of attorney will automatically apply to these services if they are affiliated with the selected service area.

If you choose this service area, the person you have granted power of attorney to will be able to:
view data registered in relation to you in health registers (including prescriptions, summary care record and vaccines)
view data related to your GP
view test results
request correction of errors in registers
view information about any research projects you are participating in
manage your profile settings
view documents that you have not hidden from those with power of attorney
obtain an overview of your consents and opt-outs
If you choose this service area, the person you have granted power of attorney to will be able to:
view your medical records
view entries made by healthcare professionals in your medical records
request correction of errors in your medical records
If you choose this service area, the person you have granted power of attorney to will be able to:
book and manage your appointments
obtain an overview of your referrals
obtain an overview of your health contacts
communicate with healthcare professionals and other contacts
view your prescriptions and request repeat prescriptions
view your vaccination card
record information in your summary care record
use digital tools
use new services that are linked directly to the prevention, treatment or monitoring of your health issues
View, modify or terminate powers of attorney
Under Powers of Attorney, you will be able to view who you granted or received power of attorney from, if applicable. You can also see how long the powers of attorney are valid, as well as the service areas they are valid for.
You can also modify or delete powers of attorney. If you modify a power of attorney, it will be deleted and a new power of attorney will be created automatically. Deleted powers of attorney can be found in History.
Questions and answers about powers of attorney
A power of attorney is a form of declaration that authorises someone else to view your health data and use services at Helsenorge on your behalf.
If, for example, you want one of your next of kin to be able to use Helsenorge on your behalf, you can log in and grant power of attorney for them to do so. You can also grant power of attorney by using a paper form.
You must be 18 years or older to be authorised to use Helsenorge on behalf of others.
The person granting the power of attorney must be 16 years or older.
A power of attorney may be valid for a limited or unspecified period of time.
You can modify or terminate a power of attorney you have granted at any time. Powers of attorney that are still valid can be modified. You do not need to provide a reason to modify or terminate a power of attorney.
