What is the Municipal online doctor?
The Municipal online doctor can assist you with minor questions regarding your health. The online doctor can for example provide advice about contraception, mild physical ailments, childhood diseases, respiratory symptoms including allergies, eczema and tick bites, indigestion and musculoskeletal symptoms.
The online doctor will send a discharge summary to your GP.
How to book a video appointment with the Municipal online doctor
You can book a video appointment with the Municipal online doctor via the Appointments service. The online doctor also appears in the list of Health contacts.
Details about the booked appointment, including the link to the video consultation, can be found under ‘Appointments’. You need to initiate the appointment yourself using the link. If you do not start the video appointment within five minutes, the doctor will attempt to contact you by phone.
You will need to pay a user fee for the video appointment. If you have any questions regarding the payment, please contact the municipality.
Do you need an interpreter?
If you need an interpreter, make sure you state this in the free text field when you book the appointment. You may be offered a different appointment time if you need an interpreter.
Who can use the Municipal online doctor?
The Municipal online doctor service is being trialled in certain municipalities. The service is currently available to anyone who is registered in the Norwegian National Population Register as resident in one of the following municipalities:
Arendal, Birkenes, Froland, Gjerstad, Grimstad, Kristiansand, Oslo, Risør, Tvedestrand, Vegårshei, and Åmli.
You can book an appointment with the municipal online doctor on behalf of your children or anyone for whom you have power of attorney.
What can the Municipal online doctor not help with?
The online doctor offers video appointments only and is therefore unable to perform physical examinations or any tests. The online doctor also does not have access to your patient records and will not be familiar with your medical history. It is not possible to see the same doctor for follow-up after the appointment.
If you require assistance that cannot be provided online, you will need to contact your GP. If it is urgent, please visit the out-of-hours medical service or contact 113.
