How does the Test results service work?
When you have a test or an examination, you can see the results in the Test results service. This applies regardless of the treatment you are receiving or who ordered the test or examination.
You will receive a notification from Helsenorge when the results of your test or examination are available. Your medical care provider will contact you if your test results require further follow-up.
Useful information about Test results
If you are unable to see your test results, this could be because:
- The person who requested or carried out the test is not yet using the service.
- It can take some time before the sample has been analysed.
- Some test and examination results must be reviewed before you get access to them.
- The person who requested the test has deferred your access to the test results so that they can discuss the results with you first. Read more in the Norwegian Patient and User Rights Act (in Norwegian).
- You have opted out of your test results being registered. You can change this under Privacy Settings.
- You have opted out of having a Summary Care Record. Without a Summary Care Record, your test results cannot be displayed. Read more about the Summary Care Record.
When all test results from a sample collection are ready, you will receive a notification from Helsenorge. This may be an email, an SMS, or a push notification.
In some cases, several tests must be analysed before a full report is ready. This means it may take some time before you receive the notification.
You will receive a notification from Helsenorge when your test results are ready. Notifications are sent on weekdays between 9:00 and 14:00. You will be notified in the way you have chosen on Helsenorge (SMS, email, or push notification in the Helsenorge app).
You can choose whether or not you want to receive notifications about test results. Select “Standardvarsling" (Standard notifications) if you want to receive notifications, or “Så få varsler som mulig" (As few notifications as possible) if you do not want notifications. You can change this under Notification settings (in Norwegian).
Sometimes several tests need to be analysed before a report can be completed. This means it may take some time before you receive a notification.
If you have been waiting a while for your test results, it may be because the person who requested the test has deferred your access to the test results so that they can discuss the results with you first. Read more in the Norwegian Patient and User Rights Act (in Norwegian).
This is done to make sure you understand what your test results mean and to give you the opportunity to ask questions.
In the Test results service, you can see results from tests and examinations carried out after 4 June 2025. As you take more tests, the results are collected over time, giving you an overview of all your test results.
If you have a corresponding history on Fürst’s website, you will need to refer to that for earlier results.
All healthcare professionals involved in your treatment have access to your test results. If you wish to restrict who gets access to your test results, you can do so. Read more about your rights when sharing health data or call Guidance Helsenorge on +47 23 32 70 00.
The information you see under Test results is the same as healthcare professionals see in their systems. It is intended for people with a healthcare background and may be difficult to understand if you are not a healthcare professional.
Many test results include a glossary or explanation that appears when you click on the result. This is meant to help you understand your test result.
Remember that your medical provider will contact you if there is a need to discuss the result of your test.
If you are unable to log in to Helsenorge, you can use one of the following forms:

Blocking or restricting access for healthcare professionals
If you do not want information about you to be registered and stored in the service, you can opt out at any time, without giving a reason. You do this under Privacy settings.
Your information will be deleted, and no information about you will be stored in the future.
The person who ordered the tests will still be able to see the test results in their medical record system, as they are required to store this information in your patient record.
It may take up to 30 days from when you opt out until your test result information is deleted.
f you do not want your test results to be shared with healthcare professionals, you can restrict (block) access. You can do this under Privacy settings.
Those who order tests or examinations for you will still be able to see the results in their own medical record system. This also applies to other healthcare professionals working at the same healthcare provider as the person who ordered the test or examination. Healthcare professionals working elsewhere must ask for your consent to access your test results.
In an emergency, healthcare professionals treating you may be given access to your test results if this is necessary to provide immediate medical care.
Risks of restricting access to test results
Your test results are important to give healthcare professionals easy and safe access to accurate information when providing you with healthcare. If you restrict healthcare professionals from viewing your test results, you limit their access to all information about you and your test results. When they do not have this access, you may have to retake blood tests or imaging examinations.
f you do not want your test results to be shared with specific healthcare professionals, you can restrict their access by blocking them from viewing your test results. You do this under Privacy settings. A block always applies, including in emergency situations.
To register a block, you must know the healthcare professional’s identification number (HPR number). You can find the HPR number in the Healthcare Personnel Register.
Risks of blocking access to test results
Your test results are important to give healthcare professionals easy and safe access to accurate information when providing you with healthcare. If you block healthcare professionals from viewing your test results, you limit their access to all information about you and your test results. This may prevent them from providing the healthcare you need, even in an emergency.
