How does the Test results service work?
When you have a test or examination, the results will be shown in Test Results. This applies regardless of the treatment you are receiving or who requested the test or examination.
You will receive a notification from Helsenorge when the results of your test or examination are available. Your medical care provider will contact you if your test results require further follow-up.
Useful information about Test results
If you are unable to see your test results, this could be because:
- The healthcare professional who requested or carried out the test is not yet using the service.
- It can take some time before the sample has been analysed.
- Some test and examination results must be reviewed before you get access to them.
- The healthcare professional who requested the test has deferred your access to the test results so that they can discuss the results with you first. Read more in the Norwegian Patient and User Rights Act (in Norwegian).
- You have opted out of your test results being registered. You can change this under Privacy Settings.
- You have opted out of having a Summary Care Record. If you do not have a Summary Care Record, your test results will not be available. Read more about the Summary Care Record.
You will receive a notification from Helsenorge when all the results from your test are ready. This could be in the form of an email, an SMS or a push notification.
Sometimes, several tests may need to be analysed before a diagnostic report can be prepared. It may therefore take some time before you receive a notification.
You will be notified by Helsenorge when your test results are ready. Notifications are sent out on working days between 09:00 and 14:00. You will be notified in the format you requested on Helsenorge (SMS, email or push notification via the Helsenorge app).
You can decide whether or not to receive notifications about test results. Select "Default Notifications" if you want to receive notifications, and select "As few notifications as possible" if you do not wish to receive notifications. You can change this under Notification settings (in Norwegian).
Sometimes, several tests may need to be analysed before a diagnostic report can be prepared. It may therefore take some time before you receive a notification.
If you have waited some time for your test results, the person who requested the test may have deferred your access to the test results so that they can discuss the results with you first. Read more in the Norwegian Patient and User Rights Act (in Norwegian).
They may do this to make sure you understand what the test results mean and give you an opportunity to ask questions.
In the Test results service, you can view results from tests and examinations 4 June 2025. When more tests are performed, results are collated over time, giving you an overview of all your test results.
If you have a corresponding history on Fürst’s website, you will need to refer to that for earlier results.
Everyone involved in your care have access to your test results. If you wish to restrict who gets access to your test results, you can do so. Read more about your rights when sharing health data or call Guidance Helsenorge on +47 23 32 70 00.
The information available under Test results is the same as what healthcare professionals can see in their systems. The information is intended for those with a medical background and may be difficult to understand if you are not a healthcare professional.
Many test results include a glossary of terms, which can be viewed when you click on the test results. This will help you understand the results.
Remember that your medical provider will contact you if there is a need to discuss the result of your test.
If you are unable or prefer not to use the Test Results service, you can use one of the following forms to access your test results.
Form to request access to the Test Results service (in Norwegian)

Your test results will be shared with your treatment providers
The Test Results service gives healthcare professionals easier access to your test results. This can be useful if you have a chronic illness or complex care pathway. It can also be important if you require urgent care, such as at the out-of-hours medical service.

Blocking or restricting access for healthcare professionals
If you do not want information about you to be registered and stored in the service, you can opt out at any time, without giving a reason. You do this under Privacy settings.
Your personal information will be deleted, and no data relating to you will be stored in the future.
The healthcare professional who requested the test will still be able to view the test results in their medical record system, as they have a duty to store information in your patient record.
Please note that it can take up to 30 days from opting out until information about your test result is deleted.
If you do not want your test results to be shared with healthcare professionals, you can restrict access. You can do this under Privacy settings.
The person who requested a test or examination will still be able to view the results in their records. This also applies to other healthcare professionals working at the same location as the person who requested the test or examination. Healthcare professionals working elsewhere need to ask for your consent to access your test results.
In the event of an emergency, treatment providers can access your test results if this is necessary to provide urgent care.
Risks of restricting access to test results
It is important for healthcare professionals to have easy and secure access to accurate information when they provide you with healthcare services. If you restrict access to the Test result service for healthcare professionals, you will restrict their access to all of your test results. If they are unable to access this information, this could lead to blood tests results or X-ray images have to be repeated.
If you do not want your test results to be shared with specific healthcare professionals, you can restrict their access by blocking them from seeing your test results. You do this under Privacy settings. A block always applies, even in emergencies.
To register a block, you need to know the Health Personnel Register (HPR) number of the individual. You can find the HPR number in the Healthcare Personnel Register.
Risks of blocking access to test results
It is important for healthcare professionals to have easy and secure access to accurate information when they provide you with healthcare services. If you block healthcare professionals from accessing your test results, you restrict access to all information relating to you and your test results. They may therefore be unable to provide you with the care you need, even in an emergency.
If you do not want to log in to Helsenorge to block or restrict access for healthcare professionals, you can do so by submitting a hard copy form instead. You can also submit a hard copy form if you want to opt out of the Test result service.
